About SPEVIGO® Therapy

SPEVIGO® is a targeted biologic medication, meaning it is made from living cells. It works like a blocker by attaching to a protein called interleukin-36 (or IL-36 for short) which is a protein that acts as an alarm bell. In conditions such as generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP), this alarm bell won't stop ringing which triggers a chain reaction in the body. This results in inflammation on the skin and lead to widespread eruption of painful pustules (pus-filled bumps) that can cover large areas of your body. GPP flares can be serious and eveb life-threatening if not treated.

How SPEVIGO® plays a role in managing inflammation

SPEVIGO® attaches to the IL-36 receptor. Think of it as putting a lock on a door that IL-36 tries to enter. By blocking the receptor, SPEVIGO® stops the inflammatory signals from getting through. This leads to a reduction and clearing of the pustules on the skin which relieves the pain and discomfort. This also calms down the widespread inflammation; helping you get back to feeling more like yourself.

What to Expect During SPEVIGO® Infusion Therapy

We advise you to please arrive early to your appointment well hydrated and well rested. Your doctor should check you for tuberculosis (TB) before starting Spevigo®. Tell your doctor if you've had TB in the past or have been around someone with TB.

When experiencing a flare, one of our experienced clinical staff members will administer SPEVIGO® as an intravenous (IV) infusion.

Your first infusion:

  • You'll recieeve a single 900mg dose through an IV line in your arm.
  • The infusion takes 90 minutes
  • Our healthcare team will monitor you during and after the infusion for any reactions
  • Many people start seeing improvement within days to a week.

If symptoms persist:

  • If your flare symptoms continue after 1 week, your doctor may give you an additional 900 mg dose
  • If your flare comes back after you've responded to treatment, you may receive a rescue dose
  • You can receive up to 3 total doses during a flare episode

For Preventing Future Flares (Maintenance Treatment)

If you and your doctor decide that maintenance treatment is right for you, SPEVIGO® can be given as subcutaneous injections (under the skin) to help prevent future flares.
