TREMFYA® Infusion Therapy

About TREMFYA® Infusion Therapy
TREMFYA® (guselkumab) is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of drugs called interleukin inhibitors. It was the first medication of its kind to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2017 for treating adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Tremfya is a biologic medication, specifically a monoclonal antibody. It works by blocking a protein called interleukin-23 (IL-23) in your body, which normally activates your immune system.
Condition treated by this therapy
TREMFYA® is a biologic medication for the treatment of:
- Moderate to severe plaque psoriasis
- In adults who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy (light treatment).
- In two clincal studies, at least 7 out of 10 patients saw at lease 90% clearer skin at 16 weeks using TREMFYA®.
- Active psoriatic arthritis
- In clincial studies, more than 5 out of 10 patients treated with TREMFYA® had at least 20% improvement in active psoriatic arthritis symptoms at 24 weeks compared to placebo.
- Moderate to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) in adults
- Moderate to severely active Crohn's disease in adults
TREMFYA® lowers inflammation (swelling) in your body to treat symptoms of these diseases.

TREMFYA® Side Effects
Although rare, serious side effects may include:
- Infections
- Tremfya lowers the ability of your immune system to fight infections and can increase the risk of infections, including tuberculosis.
- Allergic Reactions
- TREMFYA® may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious.
- Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reaction symptoms.
- Liver Damage
- Liver damage, also called hepatotoxicity, can happen when using TREMFYA®.
- In patients with Crohn disease or ulcerative colitis, evaluate liver enzymes and bilirubin at baseline, for at least 16 weeks of treatment, and periodically thereafter according to routine patient management.
Before starting treatment with TREMFYA®, your doctor may perform tests to make sure you do not have tuberculosis or other infections. Make sure you are current on all vaccines before you start treatment with TREMFYA®. Do not receive a "live" vaccine while using TREMFYA®. The vaccine may not work as well and may not fully protect you from disease.
